FCCLA: The Ultimate Leadership Experience

Our FCCLA Chapter has had many accomplishments.
It has been around for over ten years and there've always been competitiors at both the state and regional levels! There have also been students competing at nationals and three state officers!!

FCCLA stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. It was formally called FHA, Future Homemakers of America. It has been an organization for over sixty years! It is the only youth led organization that has a main focus on families.

FCCLA's purpose is to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. By focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader, members develop skills for life through character development; creative and critical thinking; interpersonal communications; practical knowledge; and career preparation.

Many members compete with community service projects at MWHS. From organizing a charity dinner for a needy family to teaching children about drug abuse, our chapter does it all! Members do community presentations and projects that they then present at the regional, state, and often, the national level. They compete through a program called STAR Events. STAR Events stands for Students Taking Action with Recognition.
