Students Eat Free in 2011-2012
Yes, that is correct ~ all enrolled MWSD students eat free this school year!
Mary Walker School District has now been approved by the State of Washington for ”Provisional 2” - which means free breakfast and lunch meals for all its District’s students, regardless of family income!A huge “thank you” to the cafeteria staff for working so hard and so long to make this happen.
The 2011-2012 school year will be the “base” year. Lunch applications are required from each family with students enrolled in Mary Walker School District on or before October 1, 2011.However, the breakfast and lunch meals that meet the USDA requirements will be free to each enrolled student from the first day of school, regardless of family income! If the District meets the State’s criteria for Provisional 2 for the 2011-2012 school year, Mary Walker School District will be able to provide free meals to students for an additional three (3) years without the need for meal applications!
Extra milk, “second meal”, extra juice, etc, will continue to be available to students for an additional charge. Please help Mary Walker School District meet the State requirements for “Provisional 2” status by completing and turning in a meal application prior to the October 1, 2011, deadline.Thank you!
