State High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE) are now scheduled. Remember: A good night's sleep and a balanced breakfast
will certainly help with giving the added support for your student on testing days.
High School Registration (Grades 9-12)~ Mon., Tues. & Wed., Aug. 18th, 19th & 20th (9:00am - 3:00pm). Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian to sign the class schedules and update any registration information such as immunization records, etc.
High School Football Practice Begins ~ Wed., Thurs., Fri., Sat. & Mon., August 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd & 25th (Mandatory 2-a-day practices: 7:00am-9:00am and 7:00pm-9:00pm). Reminder: Sports physical needs to be up-to-date and all paperwork needs to be completed BEFORE practice starts.

If you're a Mary Walker graduate and need a transcript of your records, please submit your written request by fax (509-258-4555) or e-mail to the High School Office (with "Transcript" in the Subject Line). Requests are expected to be reviewed and/or processed on June 30th and July 7th. Please bear in mind that if you are a not-so-recent graduate, your request may take longer to process.
Did You Know ... Mary Walker School District recently received an Academic Achievement Award? Seven Alumni Make EWU's Dean's Honor Roll
Eastern Washington University recently announced the dean's honor roll for the Winter Quarter 2014 ... seven (7) former Mary Walker (Springdale) students made the list! To be named to the honor roll, students must maintain a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 grade scale. Well done!

New Elementary Principal Selected
It gives us great pleasure to announce that Edwina Hargrave has accepted our offer to become the new PreK-5 Principal / Special Education Director, beginning with the 2014-2015 school year. Ms. Hargrave, currently the Skykomish School District superintendent, is a Mary Walker alumni and has expressed a keen desire to return to the area. Welcome back, Edwina!
Message from the Superintendent
On behalf of all of us in the MaryWalkerSchool District, I would like to welcome you to our community. The MaryWalkerSchools have a long and distinguished history of service to children and families. We are proud of our students. They continue to achieve at high levels and make significant contributions to our community. Just as important as academic excellence, a heavy emphasis is placed on civility, citizenship, and character development.
It is our intent to deliver the very best instructional program possible to our students. Our curriculum is extensive, including college-level courses, special education options, effective student assistance programs, and a variety of enrichment opportunities.
The district provides along with other service providers, a full range of preschool choices. Our elementary school offers a full-day kindergarten program. Secondary students enjoy a full and rich selection of academic, vocational, and extracurricular programs. Counselors and teachers are available to guide students through their secondary and mid-school studies, allowing students to meet state requirements for graduation—and pursue their individual personal interests.
The Board of Education in Mary Walker is committed to excellence. The district is recognized for this commitment at both the local and state level. Our elementary has been a school of distinction for the last two years, the middle school is a College Board pre AP school and our High School Is recognized as a top 500 school in the nation college preparation.
